Mafia Meat Mark-Up
As the Post, bless its yellow heart, reported under the headline “Mob Perv Busts,” New York City cracked down this week on 14 members of the Gambino crime family who were involved in all the regular goombah grafts (extortion, prostitution, jury tampering, murder) — albeit with a modern twist (the child prostitutes were pimped on Craigslist).
Most shocking of all, of course, was the accusation that members of the Gambino crime family had engaged in gouging high-end restaurants on their meat orders. And the chefs were in on it (which makes this crime almostĀ touchy feely by kneecap-bashing standards). With kickbacks paid to the kitchen, this is almost a socialist redistribution of wealth.
The Feds did not release the names of the restaurants, but if you eat in New York you probably have some idea. We certainly do. Because, if ever there was a crime, it’s paying $35 for an inferior strip steak.

I hope not, but my family and I had very disappointing steaks there a couple months ago and now always order something else instead… we all remembered the steak being so much better in the past.Anyone else?
