Micro Moos

When it comes to laws of diminishing returns sometimes you need to swing back the other way. Farmers are discovering the bovine equivalent of the Prius: Smaller cows that consume half the food of their full-size counterparts and yet produce up to 75% as much beef. It’s the harbinger of the new economy.

The LA Times sent a reporter up to Nebraska to soak up the adorable scene of frolicking minicows. The reporter painted the scene as a “Liliputian round-up,” and spoke with Ali and Kenny Petersen who tend the herd of miniature Herefords.

“Aren’t they sweet?” asked Ali, 52, shooing Half-Pint, Buttercup and a dozen other cattle across a holding pen. “They’re my babies, every little one of them.”

Then she shot a bolt through every single one of their charming, precious little heads.

Spread the bloody truth.
